Downloading and Installing Best Choice

Downloading Best Choice

  1. Click here to download the program.
  2. After you click the link above, enter your information.
  3. After you have entered your information, you will come to the download page. Click the blue highlighted link in the middle of the page that says "Click here to download BestChoice 4.0 (bchoice4.exe).
  4. If you are having trouble clicking with the left mouse button on one of the links above, you can right click on one of the links with your right mouse button, and when the little menu shows, left click on the menu item "Save target as".
  5. A File Download window will open asking you : "Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer?"
  6. You must click the Save or Save File to Disk button
  7. A new window will open with a heading of "Save As".
  8. There is a dropdown text box at the top that says Save In. Saving to the desktop is the easiest thing to do, so if it is not already in the text box, click the down arrow, and click the desktop at the top of the menu.
  9. Click the Save button. The download will now start.

To Install The Program Files

  1. Close all your currently running programs so that only your Windows Desktop is on your screen.
  2. Locate the file on your desktop that you just downloaded (should be bchoice4.exe), and double click with your mouse.
  3. Some win95 and win98 users may see a window that says Windows needs to update your system and reboot your computer. This is normal. After your system reboots, the installation will automatically resume.
  4. You should now see a window that says "Welcome .... ". Click Next.
  5. The next window is the User Information Screen. Enter your information and click Next.
  6. The next window is the Destination Folder screen. If you wish to install Best Choice to a different drive or directory, you may do this here, but we seriously recommend you not change this and install Best Choice 4.0 to the default directory unless you really know what you are doing.
  7. Click Next again.
  8. After copying all files, you should see a window that says "Best Choice was Successfully Installed." Click Finish. The Program has now been installed.

Running the program for the very first time

  1. You will now have a new Best Choice 4.0 icon on your desktop.
  2. Double click on it. This will run the white splash screen for the first time.
  3. You will fall under one of the following three categories, A, B, or C.

A. If you own the 3.0 version, and it is currently installed on your computer AND your computer is licensed.

  1. Go to the instructions below under the heading, "Running the Program for the First Time With a Licensed PC"

B. If you have purchased the program, but have never installed one of our programs on your current computer before, or are re-installing the program but do not currently have your computer licensed.

  1. You have the full version installed on your computer, but it will run in Demo mode until you have licensed your computer.
  2. When you run the program for the first time, the white splash screen will show, and it will automatically extract the demo databases.
  3. Once it finishes this process, you will see the main program open behind the white splash screen. Just click anywhere on the white splash screen to close it.

C. If you don't own the program and have just downloaded the program from the website.

  1. If you don't currently own the program, then the program will open in Demo mode.
  2. Once you click on the icon, the white splash screen will open, and automatically start extracting the demo database files.
  3. Once this is complete, the program will open behind the white splash screen.
  4. Click anywhere on the white splash screen to close it.
  5. Click the Ok button on the demo message, and you will see a chart open.
  6. Have fun looking around. There are a few windows that have been disabled in the Demo mode. Basically you wont be able to add any type of data, but most of the important functions are there.
  7. We recommend going through the Tour to learn about the things you wont see in Demo mode.
